The Greenwich Historical Society has announced the publication of John Henry Twachtman Catalogue Raisonné, an online catalogue by Lisa N. Peters, Ph.D. in collaboration with the Greenwich Historical Society. The Catalogue is a free digital resource offering detailed records of Twachtman’s life, exhibitions, and other material including correspondence and entries for every known artwork by the artist. In development for over three decades, the digital publication provides a comprehensive scholarly record of the oeuvre of the American artist, including approximately 760 artworks.

Celebrated with Virtual Presentation on Twachtman’s Road to Greenwich
John Henry Twachtman Catalogue Raisonné will be celebrated November 18 with an illustrated virtual talk by Lisa N. Peterstracing John Henry Twachtman’s road to Greenwich, where he lived with his family from 1890 to 1899 and created the Impressionist works for which he is best known. Dr. Peters will chart Twachtman’s artistic career through focus on a few key works, from his early days in Cincinnati, to European study and travel, to New York City, and finally to Greenwich. Following the lecture Dr. Peters will be joined by Greenwich Historical Society Curator of Exhibitions and Collections Maggie Dimock for a discussion about Twachtman’s continued legacy and the rich information available to researchers and art lovers in the John Henry Twachtman Catalogue Raisonné. Catalogue is Easily Accessible to All

Easily accessible to all through the Greenwich Historical Society website and www.jhtwachtman.org, the John Henry Twachtman Catalogue Raisonné consists of searchable illustrated records, scholarly entries, and supplementary documentation, including exhibition catalogues, articles, collections, photographs, and the artist’s letters. Also featured is biographical information on Twachtman, a list of his students, and a glossary to names mentioned of noted individuals and organizations.

Life and Art: The Greenwich Paintings of John Henry Twachtman, an exhibition originally scheduled to open at the Greenwich Historical Society in October 2021, has been postponed to 2022 while the Historical Society renovates its Museum & Library following water damage from Hurricane Ida. Future dates and details will be announced.
